Biomarkers Resource

The National Biomarker Resource will draw on expertise from both TBI and dementia research to:

(i) co-ordinate the collection and processing of human biofluids at scale, including those obtained via advanced techniques eg brain microdialysis;

(ii) coordinate and harmonise neuroimaging data collection and analysis;

(iii) and standardize accrual and archiving of postmortem and surgical tissue samples.

These efforts will involve close collaboration with industry partners in the neuroimaging and biomarker fields, and broad international collaborations with partners in InTBIR, and the Collaborative Neuropathology Network Characterising Outcomes of TBI (CONNECT-TBI).

Overview

The TBI-REPORTER Biomarker Resource has developed pipelines for bedside physiological multimodality monitoring data (including clinical brain microdialysis), sampling and processing protocols for a range of biofluids, a bespoke biosample repository to allow long term banking of a range of aliquoted biosamples, state of the art facilities for biosample analysis, optimal imaging protocols based on literature review and research experience, pipelines to collate and bank digital neuroimaging and impact data, and an Outcomes Platform for online assessment and recording of key outcomes.
