TBI-REPORTER will use advanced, online accessible, outcome platforms to assess patient outcomes in a highly enriched manner. This will incorporate reference outcomes measures for TBI, including the Glasgow Outcome Score-Extended, quality of life measures, and psychological health instruments.28 In addition to these clinical outcome measures, TBI-REPORTER offers access to the Cognitron assessment platform. Developed by Prof Adam Hampshire (Professor of Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience at King’s College London), this powerful online cognitive assessment platform has the following key advantages to traditional assessment approaches:
- enables sensitive measures of cognitive function which is scaled to individual performance so avoid ‘ceiling’ and ‘floor’ testing effects
- is agnostic to culture and language
- is accessible online to enable high-frequency repeated testing, whilst being robust to practice effects
This tool has been validated for use in TBI,29 as well as deployed in population studies (e.g. the Great British Intelligence Test) and to population-level cognitive changes during the COVID pandemic.30
