Lay summary – After severe traumatic brain injury, problems with brain pressure and blood flow can worsen damage and are important targets for treatment. This study looked at whether inflammation in the blood may be linked to these harmful changes. The results suggest that inflammation affecting blood vessels, especially part of the immune system called the complement pathway, may play a role and could be a target for future research.
