Lay summary – Traumatic brain injury can damage the brain’s white matter and may also change the fats, or lipids, found in the blood. This study compared brain scan findings with blood samples from people with TBI to see whether blood lipid patterns reflected injury-related changes in the brain. The results suggest that blood-based lipid testing may help researchers better understand what is happening in the brain after TBI.
