On Monday October 23rd, the potential for TBI-REPORTER to provide a platform to support research into traumatic brain injury in context of intimate partner violence was discussed in the House of Lords in a cross chamber discussion responding to Lord Hunt of King’s Heath’s question:

“To ask His Majesty’s Government what analysis they have undertaken into the links between domestic violence and brain injury.”

In response, Lord Markham, The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Care, commented, “In June this year, the Government, through the Medical Research Council, announced the £9.5 million traumatic brain injury platform, which will facilitate research and analysis of victims of brain injury following domestic violence. The platform is being led by the University of Cambridge, with the aim of revolutionising data collection and curation for TBI research. This will include data linkages between the underlying causes of head trauma, such as domestic violence, and health outcomes.”
